Game Description

The Dead Island Dilogy is a collection of two intense zombie survival games: Dead Island and Dead Island: Riptide. Both games are set on tropical islands that become overrun by a deadly zombie virus. You play as one of several survivors who are immune to the infection, fighting to stay alive, help others, and uncover the truth behind the outbreak.

Dead Island

In the first game, you wake up after a party at a luxury resort on Banoi Island, only to find that almost everyone has turned into zombies because of a mysterious virus. You can play as one of four main characters: Sam B (a rapper), Xian Mei (a hotel receptionist and spy), Logan Carter (a former football star), or Purna Jackson (an ex-cop and bodyguard). Each character has their own special skills, like being better with certain weapons.

The survivors discover they are immune to the virus and are guided by a mysterious voice over the intercom. They work together with other survivors, like lifeguard John Sinamoi, to find supplies, rescue people, and try to escape the island. As you explore the resort, city, jungle, and even a prison, you fight zombies using mostly melee weapons—like bats, axes, and knives—because guns and ammo are rare.

The story gets more complicated when you learn about a group called the Consortium, who unleashed the virus to study it and create a bioweapon. The survivors are tricked and betrayed by people who want to use their immunity for evil plans. In the end, they escape the island by helicopter, but things are far from over.

Dead Island: Riptide

Riptide picks up right where the first game ends. The four survivors (Sam B, Xian Mei, Logan, and Purna) land on a military ship, thinking they are finally safe. But the virus spreads to the ship, causing chaos. They meet a new immune survivor, John Morgan, a cook with awesome hand-to-hand combat skills.

The ship crashes during a storm, and the group wakes up on another island called Palanai, which is also infected. They are joined by other survivors and must fight their way through flooded cities, jungles, and new types of zombies. The Consortium is still trying to use the virus as a weapon, and the survivors have to stop them while looking for a way to escape again.

Riptide adds new features like dynamic weather, boats for traveling through flooded areas, and “Hub Defense” missions where you set up traps and defend survivors from zombie attacks. The story ends with the group escaping Palanai by boat, but the final scene hints that the infection might not be over, leaving their fate a mystery.
