HOW SHOULD I ADJUST OR DISABLE MY ANTI-VIRUS FROM CORRUPTING MY GAMES?

Sometimes it is necessary to stop the antivirus completely, irrespective of which antivirus you may have (and yes, Windows Defender or Security Center in Windows is also an antivirus, so you HAVE TO DISABLE IT). As these installers may commonly be detected as False Positives – i.e. they are not viruses but antivirus falsely detects them.

Disable the anti-virus completely along with the appropriate File and Folder Exclusions.

Let’s say you installed a game without disabling the antivirus, some file(s) may have become corrupt or detected by the antivirus. You should recover or restore those file(s) by going to the antivirus protection history and restoring them. After which you need to turn off the antivirus and also add exclusions to some common folders.

Add these folders to antivirus exclusion :

1) Your general downloads folder.
2) Your game download folder.
3) Folder where you extract the game.
4) Also the folder where the game gets installed.
5) Folder where the antivirus detected a game file (for example, the C:\Users\$$$\Local\AppData\Temp) in many cases.

Look for “Realtime Protection” in your anti-virus and turn it off completely.
